Villagers & Heroes is home to a lot of dangerous foes, but none match the difficulty of Elder Bosses. These fearsome opponents exist scattered across the world and provide rewards worthy of those brave enough to challenge them.
Progression
Elder Bosses are based on a tier, and each tier contains exactly 4 Elders. From levels 10 to 50 the tiers are spread at intervals of 10 levels. Starting from 55 however, the tiers are spread by intervals of 5 levels.
Loot
Each Elder boss in a Tier drops a specific fragment. Once all 4 fragments (one from each elder) are collected, players can restore rare or epic gear with them from the NPC Acron in Ardent Castle. The fragments are: Ether, Crest, Essence and Insignia. All 4 fragments must be from the same tier for this to work. 2 level 40 fragments and 2 level 50 fragments are not acceptable. Elders are just like bounties in the way that they have an 'active' and 'completed' status. When an Elder is killed, it is considered completed for the next 22 hours, and then it will swap back to active. Whenever an active Elder is killed, all players who participated in the fight (whether they are in a party or not) will receive the fragment of that Elder automatically in their inventory. Note that the status of the Elder is based on the individual, not the whole. So if the Elder is active for player 1, and completed for player 2, then only player 1 will receive the item in their inventory - then the Elder will become completed for player 1 as well. Elders also have a 66% chance to drop one fragment as loot, regardless of its status.
Redeeming
When redeeming gear from the Elder restoration NPC, the acquired gear will scale to the player's level, within the confines of its tier. This means that if a level 39 player redeems the level 30 Elder fragments, they will receive level 39 gear. However, if a level 49 player redeems the level 30 Elder fragments, the highest gear they will receive is still 39, because everything 40 - 49 is the territory of the level 40 fragments.
